Phones 4u was the largest independent mobile phone retailer in the United Kingdom and open in the shopping centre in 2010. In September 2014, Phones 4u entered administration brought about by its last suppliers EE and Vodafone terminated their contracts.

The shop has remained empty in the city centre for almost four years.
