Barclays first opened in the city in 1952 on Market Street at number 15.  The bank remained there for twenty one years before relocating to Breadmarket Street.  The front of the building has changed a little since the sixties.

The main doorway along with the steps and railings remain but the windows have been changed taking on a Georgian style. This may have happened to complement the Georgian fronted chemist that stands to right which at one time was run by Robert H. J. Edyvean before coming a Subway.
